Front-end Drupal Developer

We are seeking a Front-end Drupal Developer who can thrive as part of a dynamic and progressively-thinking front-end team. This position may start as freelance contract work and/or contract-to-hire. We are open to both the possibility of a freelancer or an employee, based on your preference and our needs.

We are looking for someone who writes clean, semantic, well-documented code, and who enjoys working collaboratively with a team of developers, managers, and project owners. We expect that all candidates for this position will possess a mastery of CSS, HTML, and JavaScript, and be comfortable building strategic front-end architectures for some of the biggest sites on the web. In addition, we expect candidates to have an affection for up-and-coming front-end technologies and techniques.

Here at Lullabot we strive to implement best practices and follow coding standards for all of the code we produce. This requires the candidate to have experience with Sass, as well as a knowledge of Drupal, modern JavaScript, and PHP.

We are looking for a team member with impeccable technical skills, combined with the ability to be creative and collaborative. They'll be able to manage themselves in a distributed working environment while providing superb communication to team members and clients. Equally important is an individual that can stand behind and support the Core Values we have here at Lullabot.

Technical Expectations:

  • Proficiency in core technologies for front-end development (CSS, HTML, and JavaScript).
  • Hands on experience with projects that implemented responsive design.
  • High level usage and history using Sass and CSS architecture.
  • Talent for all aspects of Drupal theming including: using the UI, configuration, and basic site administration, creation/manipulation of template files, preprocessing, and writing/overriding theme functions.
  • Comfortable working with jQuery and other more modern JavaScript libraries for front-end development.
  • Knowledge and adherence to coding standards.
  • Familiarity with accessibility best-practices.
  • Ability to identify and resolve front-end performance bottlenecks.
  • Experience identifying and fixing website accessibility issues.
  • Debugging experience in IE11+, mobile Safari, and more modern browsers.
  • Familiarity with Git, LAMP stack, terminal commands, and project ticketing systems.

  • Serving as a lead on past development projects.

The starting salary for this role is between $60k - $80k. In the case of contractors, hourly rate varies per individual requirements. Pay will be commensurate with experience.

We have flexible hours, but we tend to schedule meetings during the North American workday and expect employees to be online and available during most of this time. While we work a 40-hour week, we schedule our developers 30 billable hours per week to leave time for learning, article writing, internal projects, or work in the community. Self-direction, a casual but confident attitude, and a focus on quality over quantity are some of the things we look for.
